Film distributor Lionsgate eyeing the mobile games market
Could mean Rambo, Conan, Saw, Punisher and more on the App Store

It’s important to point out that no IP names have been mentioned - we’re just looking through Lionsgate’s extensive copyright ownership list and making wishes. But the film distributor has told CasualGaming.biz that it’s looking to get in on the casual and mobile gaming markets.
"We are examining how to leverage the existing IP we have copyright over and placing it into the world of video games,” says Lionsgate’s president of digital media Curt Marvis.
“I’m less convinced there is a market for console games, but one deal we’re working on involves digital casual and mobile gaming. I think a lot of our film and television properties have the potential to reach out to the casual gaming crowd, as this is an area of gaming that is continuing to grow and grow.”
Last year our sister site PocketGamer.biz spoke with mobile and iPhone developer Zed Worldwide, whose managing director indicated it was working with Lionsgate on a movie license project.
Saw will be hitting the consoles later this year, which is a license held by Lionsgate, and with the reasonable success iPhone movie tie-ins have seen lately, the film distributor could well be turning its properties over to the App Store very soon.
Take a look at its collection of IPs here, and let us know which ones you'd like to see on mobile and iPhone.
