DS tops Japanese hardware charts for second week in a row
But console sales all round are down

It looks like DS's stealing of the top spot in the Japanese hardware charts from PSP last week was no temporary blip. The Nintendo handheld has done it again this week, outselling PSP by almost 8,000 units.
The latest Media Create figures put DS at number one in the chart, having shifted 55,995 units during the week ending August 24th. PSP takes the number two position with 47,604 consoles sold.
However, all console sales have significantly fallen compared to last week, when DS sold 78,666 units and PSP 64,413. We're not sure why everyone had something better to do than buy games consoles last week, but it'll be interesting to see if they're back on track this week. As well as find out if DS continues to stomp all over PSP's lengthy reign as best-selling console in Japan.
