Bejeweled 2 wins Best Mobile Game at the Golden Joystick Awards
And Zelda Phantom Hourglass takes Best Handheld Game honour

Bejeweled 2 has won the Best Mobile Game at the Golden Joystick awards in London, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Call of Duty 4, Sonic The Hedgehog and Worms 2008.
The Metal Gear Solid game developed by Ideaworks3d for Konami was also nominated for best mobile game, although it's not even out in the UK yet. It's a great game, but its inclusion makes us wonder.
The awards are mainly a console thing, so the shortlist was mainly console conversions. Go with what you know, eh? It's a shame some of the more original mobile titles weren't in there, but good to see a mobile-friendly puzzler getting some acclaim.
EA Mobile's rep didn't turn up to collect the award, mind. "I hope he's up in his hotel room caught up in a game of Snake," said awards host Frankie Boyle, archly.
The awards also saw the prize for the Mobile Games Pitch 2008, a competition for budding game designers run by Channel 4, in partnership with EA Mobile and Nokia.
The winner was Finders Keepers, by Tobias Rowe. We'll have more on that in a seperate article today.
The Handheld Game of the Year award went to The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. A worthy winner, we're sure you'll agree.
