3DS XL to offer a more glare-resistant screen enhancement
Glaringly obvious

Much of the hype surrounding Nintendo’s upcoming 3DS XL involves its screens – and with good reason.
With a top screen that is roughly 90 per cent larger than the one present on the existing 3DS model, it is difficult to not mention the bigger screens as a major selling point for the 3DS XL.
Yet the larger screens on the 3DS XL will feature another upgrade over the originals: they will be treated with a special anti-glare coating that will offer a 75 per cent reduction in glare.
Blinded by the lightThe reflectivity of the original 3DS screens was at about 12 per cent (meaning, they would reflect 12 per cent of light shined against them to create glare). Slashgear reports that the new, treated screens on the 3DS XL will boast a mere 3 per cent reflectivity, making it the most glare-resistant Nintendo handheld to date.
Nintendo attempted to include this anti-glare treatment on the screens of every handheld since the Game Boy Advance, but found that the cost of including it would be prohibitively expensive to consumers.
There is no word from Nintendo as to whether it plans to retrofit this anti-glare technology to original 3DS models manufactured past this point.
