A good free-to-play model that doesn't screw up with your playerbase but still gives you enough money to live and fund new games is not easy to get right.
Node-based RTS NeoWars is trying something new though and it might just work. You'll watch some video ads that will fill a bar that eventually will unlock the entire premium experience for free. You can also pay some iAPs to fill up the bar faster but you can totally do it with video ads alone.
NeoWars' gameplay also look interesting as it's a Galcon-like RTS in which you take over small nodes to construct your harvesters that will eventually be weapons. You can also use power ups and more against the IA in more than 50 planets.
