Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS gets release date

Whether you find this news exciting depends on how hardcore you like your turn-based dungeon exploring games.

Sega has announced a US release date for Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer, a game from Japanese developer Chunsoft. Chunsoft was also behind Nintendo hits Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team for DS, and Red for GBA.

The game, which is already available in Japan and Sega recently revealed it would be publishing in the US, will come out on the other side of the Atlantic on February 19th 2008.

Originally a SNES game, the remake takes place in a fantasised ancient Japan and puts you in the adventuring boots of Shiren, a wandering samurai with a pet weasel called Koppa. Together, they've set of in search of the mystical Land of the Golden Condor, apparently home to a city of gold known as – you've guessed it – El Dorado.

Still with us? Good, because all that's left to say is that it plays like a very traditional turn-based battling game, and that new monsters, visuals and sound effects have been added to the DS incarnation.

Whether Sega sees fit to publish the game in Europe possibly depends on how it's received in the US. We'll wait and see, then.
