Mortal Kombat Mobile marks 11 years with new Diamond fighters and Klassic content
  • Klassic Baraka and MK II Movie Shao Kahn join as new Diamond fighters
  • Anniversary brings back Klassic Tower, challenges, and fan-favourite characters
  • New equipment, Friendships, and Brutalities expand combat options

Eleven years. Mortal Kombat Mobile has been on phones since 2013, and it's still adding fighters, still running events, and still finding new ways to finish you. The 11th anniversary update rolls out today, on April 1st. And no, that's not a joke - although it's hard not to appreciate the irony today.

Two new Diamond characters headline the update. Klassic Baraka arrives first, pulled straight from his 1993 Mortal Kombat II debut look – razor-sharp teeth, deadly arm blades, and a passive skill called Tarkat Bonehide that reflects incoming damage back at whoever was brave enough to send it. He's available through the new 11th Anniversary Kombat Pass running through May 7th.

The second addition is Diamond MK II Movie Shao Kahn, and he's arriving with a point to prove - highest base Attack stat, two distinct combat stances (axe or bare-handed) and the ability to buff teammates while dismantling whoever's standing across from him.

He's inspired by his appearance in the upcoming Mortal Kombat II film, hitting theatres on May 8th, and early access is available by completing the Premium+ Kombat Pass or placing in the top three of the Realm Klash PVP competition.

Beyond the new characters, the update naturally has a nostalgic angle. The Klassic Tower Event is back, Klassic Challenges kick off with Noob Saibot on April 1st, and the Krypt store is stocking Diamond and Gold versions of fan favourites like Klassic Liu Kang, Klassic Jax, and Klassic Skarlet.

Iconic fighters, including Klassic Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena, and Sonya Blade, can also be Ascended to make them even more unreasonable than they already were. Baraka gets a Friendship triggered by the Horde Chef's Set — a Tarkatan bake-off, naturally — while a new Draconic Equipment set unlocks a Shao Kahn Brutality finish.

Mortal Kombat Mobile is still going after 11 years. Flawless victory.

If you want to know where the new additions land in the current meta, our Mortal Kombat Mobile tier list is definitely worth a check.
