Capcom announces new PSP Monster Hunter for Japan

Capcom has announced at a Monster Hunter press conference in Japan that the massively popular critter poaching game will see a third iteration on PSP.

The Monster Hunter series is all about groups of buddies completing quests and gathering materials by beating up on giant monsters and using their corpses to make new equipment. It's utterly enormous over in Japan, but the series has failed to reproduce that success in the west.

Will Capcom have another go with Monster Hunter 3rd? The game currently has no North American or European release plans, but considering that Monster Hunter Freedom, Monster Hunter Freedom 2, and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite all made their merry way to European PSPs there's probably a good chance that this one will too.

The Japanese version is out this year.
