Fans of classic Nintendo kart racers were no doubt excited to see MineKart 64 appear in the App Store, but hopefully they kept their excitement in check before they clicked 'buy app'.

With a mascot that looks quite a bit like Bowser, the questionable kart racer takes its design aesthetic from Minecraft with tracks and levels made by pixelated blocks spread as far as the eye can see.

Although the App Store screenshots on MineKart 64 are quite spartan, the game promises to deliver over 20 tracks and single/multiplayer support with plenty of weapons and power-ups to collect.

3...2...1…Takedown!

Perhaps the biggest question left unanswered with MineKart 64 is not how it managed to secure approval by Apple, but which company will request to have it taken down first: Nintendo or Mojang.

Both would certainly have a case to present against Golden Games, especially since the developer is looking to make a profit off of the game which is currently on sale for $1.99 / £1.49.

Suffice it to say that MineKart 64 is on track for a short run on the App Store.
