First details on Metal Gear Solid Touch come out of hiding
Lifting the cardboard box on controls, unlockables, and more
Konami has stealthily revealed new details on Metal Gear Solid Touch through the game's official website. Specifics on controls, unlockable bonuses, and how it plans to sell the game are divulged.
Reworking the storyline from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, the game suits you up as Solid Snake in shooting gallery-style combat. Drawing a finger across the screen allows you to take aim at enemies, a tap fires your weapon. You can even zoom in with certain guns using multi-touch.
Good shots will be rewarded with Drebin Points at the end of each stage. Using these points, you'll be able to purchase wallpapers for use on your iPhone/iPod Touch.
Interestingly, Konami states its intention to release Metal Gear Solid Touch in two installments. Buying the first half of the game grants access to a free update when the second half hits the App Store. Pricing for the first half of the game hasn't been revealed nor the exact date when it will go live on the App Store. Until then, flip through the gorgeous new screenshots above.
UPDATE: Konami has informed us that they plan on releasing the first installment of Metal Gear Solid Touch this spring. The first half will come packed with 12 stages, whereas an additional eight will be made available in the second installment.
