Konami and Glu celebrate Snake success

Metal Gear Acid Mobile wins Best Game at What Mobile Game Awards

Over 3,000 readers of What Mobile put their votes in last week for the Best Game prize at the Mobile Game Awards last week, deciding Glu's (and Konami's) Metal Gear Acid Mobile to be this year's hottest handheld title.

"We are delighted to have collaborated with Konami to bring this benchmark product to market and are thrilled that it's gaining the recognition that it deserves by winning this prestigious award" said Glu Mobile's managing director of publishing, Frank Keeling.

The game was recognised for its imaginative approach to bringing the advanced stealth game to the mobile platform by adapting it into a turn-based strategy. The game picked itself up a Pocket Gamer Silver Award back in February (read our Metal Gear Acid Mobile review), described by our very own Kath Brice as, "Classic Metal Gear with a turn-based tactical card twist that proves very accessible, hugely engrossing and perfectly suited to mobile."

"This award recognises Konami's efforts to adapt its core brands to mobile in a 'platform adequate' way," concluded Florian Stronk, head of mobile business department at Konami. "Glu mobile has supported this strategy with an outstanding distribution and co marketing support, and we are delighted to share this award with this key partner of ours."

Congrats, Snake!

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
