Sound familiar?

Mecha Fire lets you fend off an alien Swarm across unfamiliar Martian terrain, out now
  • Build structures to survive on Mars
  • Fight for humanity against the Swarm
  • Team up or duke it out with others should you so wish

Brave human warriors exploring a distant planet overrun by aliens called the Swarm - if you think that it all sounds familiar, you're right to assume that it's StarCraf - er, Mecha Fire. Tasked with venturing out into a new human colony on Mars, you'll need to build structures that will ensure the survival of the human race across the unfamiliar Martian terrain - if you can fend off the relentless alien onslaught, that is.

Presented with vibrant visuals and a handy portrait mode to boot, Mecha Fire will have you leading a Mecha army to defend your colony from the aggressive locals who aren't too happy to have you on board. Thankfully, you can take advantage of a variety of abilities that each Hero you recruit possesses, whether that's developing advanced tech or managing your resources more efficiently.

Of course, surviving outer space alone is no easy feat, which is why you can choose to team up with other players to fight for humanity together. Or, you can compete with other survivors for the limited resources out there - it's survival of the fittest, after all.

Now, while there's no Sarah Kerrigan or Jim Raynor here, Mecha Fire does look appealing in my opinion, mainly because it seems to be offering a more approachable take on what otherwise might be an intimidating strategy game.
