Each week, we ask members of our App Army for their feedback on the latest and greatest releases on mobile.

One top pick this week was HyperLiger's Mazecraft, a neat action puzzler where the community creates each of the game's levels.

Let's see what our App Army had to say...

This game's really good folks. You make mazes, play other people's mazes, and choose to tip them accordingly. I'm enjoying it a whole bunch and dying even more!

Mazecraft is unlike any other game I've seen on the App Store. I love the fact that all the levels are user-created.

The art style's pretty cool, as is the soundtrack. The game runs as smooth as butter. I wouldn't be surprised if you see me creating my own level someday.

I made a map called "Forest of Fools." This guy who beat it and left five stars looks rather familiar!

I love the community aspect of Mazecraft. It feels like you have to work together with the creator of the map so you can get the item.

However, some people like to be trolls though and set a trap one block before the finish line which is really annoying! I guess it's the luck of the draw.

After you complete a maze you can rate it. I think the idea of having the rating system in the form of a tip jar is simply genius!

What slightly bothers me is the art style. I like pixel art, but this pixel art comes in all shape and sizes, feeling a little incongruous at times.

Mazecraft's biggest flaw is its controls. They feel very weird and sometimes your input can be ignored when you have to do quick movements.

I swipe down and the character decides to go left... leaving me shredded in half by a saw. After a few fails it gets very frustrating and it's not hard to blame your failure on the controls.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble with the controls! I've started using a pen as it's a little bit more precise controlling that way.

Yeah the controls have annoyed me a bit too, I've had similar issues.

I've not really managed to get into Mazecraft. To be honest I'm not a big fan of user generated content.

In this case it kinda seems like a bit of a cop-out as the developer hasn't made any levels in the game outside of the tutorial. There's no continuity or sense of achievement as far as I'm concerned.

Yay, I got some toilet paper! Good idea Lee - I should try controlling using a pen too.

Hey Aaron, one thing that ties it all together is the 100 items you have to collect. I'm not sure how I'll feel about continuing to play after I've collected them all though.

How many have you got? For me it doesn't really seem to tie anything together, just all seems a tad pointless. I may not be the target audience for Mazecraft though!

You've got to be the kind of person who wants all the stars on every level for that to work I guess. I currently have 25. I can see why it might not be for everyone though.

I get obsessed with getting all the stars for some games, but this just hasn't grabbed me sadly.

I'm not sure it's the game for me either. It's a great idea to have the community make the levels though.

If I had time on my hands I would make my own, but it's not really a puzzler that I feel is challenging enough to keep me hooked.

I made a basic maze using trees as walls, an Indiana Jones-esque rolling boulder, a buzzsaw, and decoys. You can't make your levels too hard as you need to complete them yourself in order to publish them.

Yes, the controls are annoying at times. I too switched over to using a pen rather than my finger and that helped a lot.

It's cool how you can ask the creator questions if you're stuck, or just throw some banter their way.

When you publish a map you can get notifications and watch people replaying your level. The voting system's neat as other players can leave tips which you use to buy map packs and extra costumes

I feel the more time you put into this game, the more rewarding it'll be. There's lots of fun to be had here!

From the most avid gamer to the polar opposite, almost anyone can have a pleasant experience in Mazecraft.

Although Mazecraft doesn't have a creation set anywhere near the scale of LittleBigPlanet, that doesn't have to be a negative.

Mazecraft's creation mechanics are simple to learn, and the developer has entrusted the community to expand the amount of content within the game. There are no levels from the creators, so the community's where it's at!

Mazecraft's a fun, interesting game to be sure. The fact that you can create mazes and play those made by other people is a fantastic idea. It's the kind of game that gets better the more you play.

The tip jar is by far one of my favourite ideas for a rating system. Being able to rate maps made by others feels really rewarding. It's pretty simple to create things and it's basically up to the players to make it better.

There's a lot going on here, but you'll need to invest some time to get to the payoff.
