Marvel Avengers Academy's next version update makes the game nearly unrecognizable, but is that a good thing?
The times they are a changin'
Marvel Avengers Academy is making some huge changes in its latest update arriving just in time for the game’s two-year anniversary. New story content is on the way, along with dramatic combat overhauls, and a few new cosmetic changes, too. The combat system is seeing the most change, almost completely shifting the way players engage in combat. The developers want combat to be much more interactive and strategic, adding some deeper layers to the gameplay.
Marvel Avengers Academy will now have all of the usual trappings of a mobile RPG or card brawler that many early players found were lacking in the original version of the game. Players will have access to a larger roster of heroes, and can choose their heroes’ alignment based on that characters unique abilities and class. You’ll also be able to choose each hero’s individual actions and attacks in battle. Heroes will have their own health bars, so if one character dies, the others will still have a fighting chance. That’s all capped by new combat animations for each hero that will instill some welcome spark in the game.
More aesthetic goodness is on the way, too. New heroes will have more outfits to choose from, giving you more options for customizing your team’s look. And as far as new heroes go, Voyager is joining the Marvel Avengers Academy cast as a log-in bonus when the update goes live.
We found Marvel Avengers Academy a bit lacking when it first launched, and shallow gameplay has been a critique repeated amongst friends, so it looks like Marvel is seeking to find a solution to these complaints.
