Magic: The Gathering Arena is the full mobile experience of the legendary card game. It features several decks of cards for you to discover and earn. As soon as you fire the game up, you're almost immediately sent into battle to prepare yourself for greater challenges.

Mobile card games have become wildly popular in recent times. Another example is Gwent, which started life as a minigame you can play in the iconic Witcher series. Now, that card game has gotten its own separate experience which has been successful on console and mobile.

Games like these are also huge in the esports world. If you're looking for esports content on Twitch, for example, you may see a Magic: The Gathering Arena or Gwent tournament in there somewhere. But, for MTGA, we'll share with you a few super simple things to help you if this is your first rodeo.

Land Cards Are Critical

You'll probably notice this early on, but there are land cards and creature cards. The former is extremely important if you want to utilize your hands effectively. These little beauties are required for you to use creature cards that allow you to attack.

When you start collecting and building your decks, make sure to have plenty of land cards. Your decks are almost useless without them. You'll need them when you want to play defensively too. You will need to place a land card every time you place a creature card.

You would think these particular cards wouldn't be a big deal, but then you realize the power they have. Subsidiary cards like this are a great way to make each match intense and extra strategic. It's not just; use your best cards back and forth.

Don't Be Afraid to Hold Back

Each time it's your turn in Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll have the chance to attack or block your opponents' attacks. However, there is also another alternative. You can chill and do nothing. You should see a prompt saying "No Attacks".

This will likely affect your health if your opponents attack, but there is a benefit. You'll be able to save your cards from getting destroyed. When blocking or attacking, you risk losing a card or two. Being passive at the right times will protect your cards.

This isn't something you need to do all of the time, but if you want to keep some of your cards safe, then you should fold for that turn. You can go back to your epic, aggressive ways afterwards, don't worry, you sorcerer of cards, you.

Take Advantage of Sorcery Cards

In Magic: The Gathering Arena, you have plenty of cards to collect, leading to plenty of tasty deck build combinations. But, aside from land and creature cards, there are some other speciality cards that you can use to your benefit.

Sorcery cards can help you get an edge during matches. These are side cards that are very versatile and come in handy when you need them. They can be aggressive, they can be more defensive, and so forth, so there's a smooth variety.

Collect these and make good use of them. They can help the creature cards that you have placed on the battle table. So, just like land cards, these subsidiary cards can be the juice in your pursuit of success during matches. You don't need to use them every time, but definitely use them when you're ready.
