MumboJumbo’s Egyptian themed marble blaster Luxor might have a spotty legal history as, like Zuma, it borrows most of its gameplay from Mitchell Corp’s 1995 Puzz Loop, but it’s also one of the best versions of this classic time waster yet.

And, for today only, it’s free. In collaboration with FreeAppADay, the Plus+ supported marble-shooting, chain-popping, Egypt-trotting puzzler is available for nothing on iPhone and iPod touch.

The game sees you blasting out coloured marbles into a wavy snake of multicoloured spheres, hoping to make large combinations of primary hues, and even cause massive score-racking chain reactions as balls disappear and new ones connect.

The iPhone edition features 88 levels, a whole bunch of neat special powers, game-changing talismans, and collectibles. You can control the action, and line up your shot, either with touch or tilt controls.

Pocket Gamer gave the game a Gold Award when it first launched, so grab it for zilch while you can. Luxor is available for free on iPhone and iPod touch, for today only.
