You purchase Lego Minifigures in shops and use the special codes found inside the bags to unlock that minifigure for use inside of the game.
Of course, you can also unlock these characters while playing. And by playing we mean running around obsessively smashing up every Lego object and character you come across.
It's an action RPG in a similar vein to Diablo but played entirely online. That means you can play with your friends or make new ones to play with if you don't have any.
