Kards, the WWII collectible card game by indie developer 1939 Games, will soon land on iOS and Android devices following its success on PC. The game has secured $5.3 million from various investors such as Korea Investment Partners, Woori Technology Invest Co. Ltd., Seoul Investment Partners, Sisu Game Ventures and Crowberry Capital, and it'll arrive on mobile in 2022.

Soon to be a truly cross-platform title, Kards lets players collect cards and strategize on the best deck to use during combat. It blends classic CCG gameplay with World War II elements, with WWII protagonists, infantry, aircraft, vehicles, and more.

We always intended for Kards to be a truly cross-platform title, and this funding enables us to bring the title to iOS and Android in 2022,” says 1939 Games CEO Ívar Kristjánsson. “Our investors recognise the enormous untapped potential for Kards in the mobile gaming market, which Newzoo recently projected to hit $116bn in 2024. A mobile version of Kards is our most common player request, and we’re very excited to now be able to deliver on this in the coming months.”

Kards is a fantastically well-made game due to the pedigree of the team behind it,” says Sang-Ho Park, Executive Director Korea Investment Partners (KIP). “Our investment reflects our strong belief in the team as well as the title’s huge potential when it comes to mobile in the Asian market.”

There's no official release date at the moment, but if you want to take a quick peek at the gameplay of Kards, you can head on over to its Steam page and give it a go.
