Last year, Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner (and developer Liquid Entertainment) remade and re-released classic Apple II brawler Karateka on the App Store.

Unfortunately, it wasn't very good. It nabbed a measly 4/10 rating at review, and received backlash from hardened fans of the fighting franchise.

If you were left disappointed by Mechner's remake, you'll be excited (and probably a little relieved) to read that Karateka Classic - a port of the game's original release- is coming to iOS and Android.

More good news: It'll be available to download from the App Store and Google Play from tomorrow for just 69p / 99c.

Karateka Classic completely recreates the Apple II experience. So, it features authentic disk drive noises, and a range (CRT, green, and amber) of retro monitor options to choose from.

This port does house some new features, mind. These include gameplay tips and a cheeky unlockable rewind option that allows you to reverse any mistakes you may make.
