Finally, someone's done it. Playing through an interactive Jurassic Park side story is all well and good, as is taking control of one of the lead characters and shooting at dinosaurs.

What we really want to do, however, is build our own prehistoric playpen. That's precisely what developer Ludia had in mind when it designed Jurassic Park Builder, which is out now on the US App Store for iPhone and iPad.

"Here's your chance to build your own Jurassic Park from the ground up!" the blurb reads. In this game, first announced last autumn, you'll need to grow a whole bunch of familiar dino-buddies, then help them through to adulthood in the park itself.

At that point, you'll become responsible for feeding the blessed things, whether that be through vegetation or *gulp* meat.

Pimp my park

From gamekeeper, you must turn logistics manager and construction worker, managing imports at the port and building roads so that visitors can actually see the giant lizards. There's a creative side to proceedings, too, with scope for pimping out your park with amusement centres, hotels, and the like.

Along the way, the characters from the original Spielberg blockbuster will give you missions to complete. There's also a social element at play here, which allows you to hang out in a friend's park and lend a helping hand.

Jurassic Park Builder is available now in the US as a freemium title. There's no news on a UK release as yet, but we'll bet you a mosquito wrapped in amber it won't take long to make its way across the Atlantic.
