Jetset: A Game for Airports released for iPhone
A literal take on location based gaming
We’ve been following the growth of social and location-based gaming for a while now, and it seems a new iPhone game by Persuasive Games, called (rather accurately) Jetset: A Game for Airports, has blended the two concepts together.
Designed to jab a rather wry, sardonic finger in the ribs of airport security, the game requires players to enact the duties of a modern facility - x-raying bags, performing body cavity searches and providing valuable anti-terrorism measures through heavy-handed totalitarianism.
The unique aspects of Jetset: A Game for Airports come into play through location-based gaming, however, and in this case it involves quite a literal use of the term.
Souvenirs are awarded for playing the game in actual, international airports (around 100 different ones, worldwide), with special ones granted for visiting specific locations.
Once back on solid ground, players can give their souvenirs to friends through Facebook, adding a rather poignant social networking slant to the travel-based gameplay.
