After three years of work, third-person cover shooter Ironfall Invasion will be coming out on the 3DS eShop this Friday - that's February 13th.

You'll be able to purchase it in one of three different ways.

Either you pay £8.99 / €9.99 for its single player campaign. Or you can pay the same price to receive only its multiplayer modes. No matter which one you purchase you'll have access to a limited trial version of the other mode.

If you purchase both modes separately then you get access to the multiplayer-exclusive HR pistol as an extra.

However, the third option is to pay £17.98 (€19.98) to get both modes in a single bundle. This'll get you the HR pistol as well as a Jukebox that lets you listen to the game's soundtrack in-game.

Now, Ironfall Invasion is a game that its creators have previously boasted for its tech, but not much else. Sure, it runs at 60 FPS (with the 3D off) and it looks pretty detailed for a 3DS game, but what else has it got?

Well, its single player campaign has 11 levels with 78 additional missions to unlock as you progress. It has you fighting to reclaim Earth from the Dyxides. It's all big armor, guns, and gritty talk - quite similar to Gears of War.

One of the game's odder features is that it requires you to keep an eye on your heartbeat. If it exceeds 200 then the fight is over. You'll have to find out how to reduce it yourself.

If you have a New Nintendo 3DS then you can use the C-stick for precise aiming. On older 3DS models you'll be using the touchscreen for accuracy.

Firefight

As for Ironfall Invasion's multiplayer, it allows for up to six people to face each other in online and local battle arenas. Game modes on offer include 3v3 and free-for-all.

You can also bet in-game credits on your chances of winning. These credits are tied to your XP and rank so, if you care about that, it's quite the gamble.

Additionally, a Survival mode lets you train in these multiplayer battle arenas on your own against AI-controlled bots.
