We been waiting on ustwo’s music iPhone app Inkstrumental - which has been created in conjuction with graffiti artist Jon Burgerman - for over six months.

Now, finally, we hear that the app, which mixes funky beats and graphics, has been submitted to Apple and is due for release on 7 May.

In terms of how it works, each of the funky cartoon characters has an associated sound, which they make when you tap them. You can also record your own sounds should the mood take you.

In sequencer style, you build up a track by recording layers of sounds. You can then mix these, as well as using the characters to create a music video.

Once complete, this can be uploaded to YouTube for viral appreciation.

Here’s some early video footage of how it works, plus the official teaser.
