GDC 2013: Pit the Dark Knight against the Man of Steel in iOS and Android version of Injustice: Gods Among Us

NetherRealm Studios has revealed that it's working on a mobile version of its upcoming superhero console brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Though the Chicago-based developer is remaining pretty tight-lipped about the specifics of this iOS and Android spin-off, we do know that the game will differ in some respects from the console version.

Thanks to the folks over at Digital Spy, who caught a glimpse of the title at GDC, we also know that you will be able to unlock achievements and character skins in the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us by playing the mobile edition of it.

Given that NetherRealm is the dev behind previous DC Universe title Batman Arkham City Lockdown, we wouldn't be surprised if the mobile incarnation of Injustice: Gods Among Us contains similarly Infinity Blade-influenced gameplay.

In fact, we reckon a gesture-based interpretation of the game would be preferable to fumbling around with a bunch of virtual buttons.

As you may or may not know, by the way, the home console version of Injustice: Gods Among Us will run on a heavily modified version of Unreal Engine 3.

And as you may or may not know, NetherRealm has been on the lookout out for a senior designer with "extensive game development experience" to create "multiple Unreal-based iOS projects". Hmmm, indeed.

Anyway, the console version of Injustice: Gods Among Us is scheduled for release on April 19th. There is currently no release date for the iOS and Android edition, though.
