Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs due on App Store soon

It's perhaps slightly weird timing in that the film and DVD launches are now in the past, but publisher Chillingo obviously has faith in the Ice Age brand in terms of the 2009 Christmas selling frenzy.

Thanks to Chillingo and Two Tribes, the Dutch developer best known for its cute Toki Tori action platformer, an all-new iPhone exclusive game based around the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs film is on the way.

Labelled as an 'alternative storyline', the game will see you control sabre-toothed squirrel Scrat in his continual hunt for acorns across four themed environments: including ice caves, snow, mist-filled caves, and jungle.

Other characters such as Manny, Ellie, Diego, Sid and Scratte also make various appearances.

The game - an action puzzler - will have Scrat climbing, hanging from the ceiling, shoving blocks, breaking ice, floating around - and solving puzzles of course. Its replay value will be beefed up thanks to a collectible item system.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is due to be out on the App Store soon: some time in November.
