The sword and sandal slash-'em-up I, Gladiator has finally fought its way over to Google Play after eight months of iOS exclusivity.

At first blush, you might think that the gore-spattered I, Gladiator's a simple Infinity Blade clone since it looks an awful lot like that seminal first-person fighter - and you even use a sword to separate your opponents from their limbs - but there's a lot more under the hood than that.

For starters, you can run and toggle targets freely and it never quite has the same 'on rails' feeling that Infinity Blade presents.

Also, you're a gladiator.

Are you not entertained?

In our review of I, Gladiator, we called it "a polished action-RPG which mixes the brutal fighting skills of Rome's finest warriors with the theatrics of its greatest showmen" before we hung a Bronze Award around its icon.

We did find the IAPs a bit off-putting, and those came along with I, Gladiator as it made the leap to Android - as did the initial launch price of $4.99 / £2.99, which is the same price it carried when it launched on iOS.

If you find the price too much to bear, you can hope that it follows a similar trajectory to the Apple version of the game which has sat at $2.99 / £1.99 since May.
