As far as illegal things to do on the road go, racing at high speeds and weaving between cars is right up there. But dammit if it doesn't make for a fun time. Something that Highway Racer Pro aptly demonstrates in this ambitious open-road racer, coming soon to iOS and Android.
As you might expect from that description, Highway Racer Pro promises exactly that. High-speed racing action set on the open highway with a variety of true-to-life locations and vehicles with which to race through, inspired by real locations as far afield as Japan, Germany and Brazil.
Naturally, one of the other big selling points is realistic car physics and ultra-detailed vehicles that promise to offer a simulationist's dream. If you've ever daydreamed about hitting the gas and taking the pedal to the metal, then it might just be that Highway Racer Pro has something to match your real-life runabout.
High-speed, high expectations
Of course, all of this is exceptionally ambitious, even for a large studio. And while Spektra Games has tackled the genre before, I'm nonetheless curious if they'll be able to pull off everything that they're promising here.At the same time, if they do this very well, it might become a brand-new favourite for many of you. Offering fast-paced online multiplayer racing, dynamic weather, customisable cars, and even 1v1 showdowns, as well as other modes, means that Highway Racer Pro would come jam-packed with features.
With a projected release of early August, it may very well be that we'll find out soon enough if HRP is able to meet the need for speed.
