Any old excuse, eh?

Earlier this month, Jet Set Games dropped the price of its Bronze Award-winning turn-based strategy game Highborn to commemorate American Independence Day and its compatibility with iOS 4.

And today, to celebrate Highborn joining the 31 million-strong OpenFeint network, the developer has reduced it to 59p / 99c (from its usual £1.79 / $2.99 tag).

This twice-in-a-lifetime sale begins on Saturday and runs for eight days, so make sure you put a reminder in iCal quicksmart.

In addition, on Friday 30th July (tomorrow: yikes!) Highborn will actually be OpenFeint’s Free Game of the Day, so mark that particular diary entry in red.

"OpenFeint is the premier multiplayer community for iPhone gamers and we’re proud that Highborn is now part of it,” says Rade Stojsavljevic, president of Jet Set Games. “We’re thrilled to be able to open up Highborn’s multiplayer to an even larger audience and encourage everyone to give it a try."

Version 1.1.0 has already gone live on the App Store, and includes a ton of new features, such as player-to-player chat, achievements, and tweaks under the hood.

Jet Set Games isn’t stopping there, though, promising additional single- and multiplayer content via in-app payments, and an iPad version of Highborn before September.
