iPhone point-and-click adventure Hector: Badge of Carnage released

"Listen up, meatsacks." Not the most conventional way to start an App Store description, but we'll run with it. "No doubt you’ve been waiting years for a half-decent game to show up in the Adventure category of the App Store," says developer Straandlooper. "Well, this is it."

It's true. Outside of ancient VGA remakes and floppy disk revivals, the iPhone is curiously devoid of any point-and-click adventures. But it looks like Hector: Badge of Carnage may be making the first, bold step in this direction.

This crude, adults-only adventure stars Inspector Hector as he defuses a hostage situation in Clappers Wreake, the crime capital of Britain. Such taboo subjects raised include porn shops, heroin addicts, trouser theft and tramp battery.

The developers obviously share my obsession with pointless numbers, letting you know you'll get 18 locations, 23 characters, 40 items, 397 interactive objects and 2,421 spoken lines of dialogue for your cash. It'll all last you a good few hours, apparently.

Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 1 ("If you don’t [buy it], you’ll never see Episode 2 or 3"), is available now for iPhone and iPod touch for £2.39 / $3.99 / €2.99.
