  • The biggest-ever Harvest Moon game on mobile is a bit buggy at launch, and fans baulk at the lack of controller support

The latest iteration of Harvest Moon - Home Sweet Home - is out now on mobile! Promising to be the largest-ever HM game on the platform, it seems to have hit a bit of a rocky patch on release. So what's the issue? And does it affect the game itself? Well, let's dig in.

First off, the main issue seems to be that a lot of people can't actually open the game. Which as you might imagine is a bit of an issue. The ratings on the storefront are currently quite low, and many cite this particular issue alongside the lack of controller options.

Features-wise, Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home promises a return to form for the franchise as you reinvigorate the declining village of Alba. All the usual features like farming, fishing and more are included, so it's probably even more frustrating for hardcore Harvest Moon fans that the launch has been a bit rocky.

The Harvest Moon curse

If there's any game that could reasonably boast of inspiring so many competitors that have gone on to overshadow it, Harvest Moon has to be in the running. Aside from a rocky launch, the lack of controller options seems to have really turned many potential players away.

This is a shame, as the success of spiritual successors like Stardew Valley shows there's a demand for games like Harvest Moon, but developer Natsume Inc. just can't seem to quite stick the landing.

But if the cosy gameplay of Harvest Moon isn't your kind of thing, maybe one of the games from our list of the best mobile games of 2024 (so far) will appeal.

Better yet, the budget-conscious gamer can always grab some of the big hits from our top 25 ranking of the best free-to-play games on iOS and Android currently available!
