How to make your critters happy: Happy Street tips, tricks, and hints

StarDunk and iBlast Moki 2 developer Godzilab has released a entirely new free-to-play social game for iOS and Android that should be familiar to those of you who've played games like Glu's Small Street (or Nintendo's Animal Crossing, for that matter).

Your aim here is to construct your very own attraction-filled village in order to entice visitors and line your pockets with some much-needed moolah.

As we're such generous souls here at Pocket Gamer Towers, we've constructed this comprehensive guide to making it big in Happy Street. Peruse it at your own will.

You probably won't be surprised to hear that Happy Street features two different forms of currency: Coins and Flooz - the latter of which is the game's premium tender.

Coins can be earned in a variety of different ways, but will generally come from flogging goods in your village's many shops and markets.

Once earned, they can be spent on all manner of unique items and goodies, including - but not limited to - new houses, even more shops, and decorations.

Flooz, on the other hand, are much rarer, and will only be earned in small amounts when you play mini-games, visit your friends, or earn enough experience to level-up your village OR bought out-right with real world cash.

This premium currency can be spent expanding your village or speeding up the time it takes you to complete actions like erecting new structures.

Many of the actions that you carry out in your village, such as installing new decorations, will reward you with valuable experience points, which continuously accumulate until you have enough to level-up.

New levels grant you access to new, exciting, and often profitable items like better houses and interesting new markets.

The final thing you need to keep an eye on as you play is your Luuv meter, which is situated at the top-right of device's screen. More on this meter later, though.

If you're going to turn your empty piece of land into a bustling money-making metropolis, you'll need to get a sweat on and dabble in a bit of construction.

Hit the arrow button at the top-right of your devices screen and you'll be able to access Happy Street's in-game store, where you can buy a range of stands, shops, and markets for your village.

To actually purchase a new home or business, you'll need enough currency to cover its asking price, and enough wood to build it.

A few minutes (providing you follow the tutorial) into Happy Street you'll gain access to a forest area, which is jam-packed full of trees that can be chopped down for resources.

Trees grow back after around 20 minutes, so visit the forest frequently and stockpile wood for future construction projects.

While the forest already has a good number of trees, it's beneficial to add more, so we suggest you do just that as soon as you have some cash to your name.

The shops that you build will automatically boost your purse as your village's inhabitants purchase items from them, so you don't have to worry about clicking at set intervals to collect revenue.

You will, however, have to occasionally click on your constructions in order to restock them.

After you've restocked one of your markets a set number of times, you'll be able to upgrade it using coins and - of course - wood, which increases the revenue that it pumps out.

We suggest that you upgrade whenever the possibility arises. Upgrading should be a higher priority than building new structures.

Similarly, you can upgrade your cottages and houses by filling them with a set number of inhabitants. You can see how many you need by simply tapping on the hut that you're interested in expanding.

As we mentioned earlier, at the top-right of your screen should be a Luuv meter, which fills up every time you tap on the colourful critters that frequently ride past your village or tap on the thought bubbles above your inhabitants's heads.

Once completely full, you can unleash a timed frenzy mode called Fiesta, in which all of your village's residents hastily bombard your shops and begin to buy everything in sight.

Take full advantage of this mode by ensuring that your shops are all fully stocked (or as close as can be) before you unleash it. That way, you'll earn stacks of coins in just a couple of minutes.

Another handy tip is to wait until a bus-load of critters is just about stop at your village. Entering Fiesta at this point will make you quite rich.

You may be tempted to spend a handful of Flooz in order to speed up upgrades and other somewhat lengthy building tasks, but try to refrain from doing so. Instead, use them to expand your village or to finish other tasks that can't be completed with time or coins.

Visit each of your friends on a daily basis. You'll earn Flooz and coins for doing so.

Play mini-games like the Lucky Spin as soon as they become available. Again, they're a great source of extra income.
