Gwent: Rogue Mage is the series' new single-player expansion out now on Android and iOS
CD Projekt Red has just announced a single-player expansion for its super popular mobile game Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. Called Gwent: Rogue Mage, it is regarded as an expansion to the Witcher Card Game but it is actually a standalone title that can be played on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS. So, players won't even need to have played the multiplayer variant before and an internet connection isn’t required either. With full offline capability and crossplay support. Rogue Mage can be played anytime anywhere.
Gwent: Rogue Mage takes place at a time when no Witchers, including Geralt, were on the Continent. It is set hundreds of years ago during the Conjunction of Spheres when the world was plagued by monsters. To help mankind face these horrific creatures, players will follow the tale of Alzur and his companion Lily who are mages. The pair decided to go on a perilous journey to create a living weapon that would permanently get rid of the monsters.
The journey won’t be easy as a tonne of obstacles will come Alzur’s way. The roguelike nature of the game doesn’t make gameplay easier either. Rogue Mage also the deckbuilding and strategy elements from Gwent. The duo's task is monumental. They require valuable mutagens for experiments, which are found only in legendary monsters. Of course, to help them, they have an entire arsenal of spells and cards that can be further upgraded to make them even stronger.
While it is an offline game, there are online leaderboards to spice things up. With mythical treasures to unlock, dangerous monsters to beat, and a bunch of modifiers to use, Gwent: Rogue Mage will give players a tonne of things to do.
