Glu Mobile's new freemium game Gun Bros. launched last week, but as regular players will have noticed, its performance this week hasn't been great.

As often happens with free games, it's become so popular sessions have been regularly crashing and the Game Center-enabled online mode doesn't seem to be working either.

As other publishers have discovered - notably ngmoco with We Rule - online games are not simple to run.

Letter from the top

Anyhow, the buck stops at the top, and so it is that Glu's CEO Niccolo De Masi has written a blog post explaining what's going wrong and what he's going to do about it.

"We at Glu are enthralled and appreciative of the reception you have given Gun Bros.," he starts.

"We are aware of the server issues and bugs and I can assure you our teams are working tirelessly to resolve them as quickly as possible."

This will be carried out in a future update to the game that De Masi says will include a bonus for all users as a thank you for loyalty and support.

The game will also get new worlds, enemies, items, supported for the Retina display, and be ported to iPad and Android.

You can read the blog post here, and our hands on with the game here.
