The new Goosebumps game takes its cues from Five Nights at Freddy's

The Goosebumps movie hit theaters in the US last Friday and with it came a tie-in game called Goosebumps Night of Scares released on iOS.

It features Jack Black voicing a magical typewriter (or a "Stinewriter") who guides you through surviving several nights at R.L. Stine's house.

But the biggest lure might be its similarities to a certain mightily popular horror game. Yes, Five Nights at Freddy's.

The idea during each night (or chapter) is to collect pages of a book in order to trap Slappy the dummy inside. At first it's only three pages but on the second night that number doubles making it a lot tougher.

As you wander around the house you'll encounter several different monsters and will have to learn how to avoid being caught (or worse) by them.

Mostly, this involves finding a hiding spot as quickly as possible and being patient while the monster sniffs around and, eventually, moves on.

But you may also want to turn lights off and close doors to ensure that your hiding spot is even better. It makes for some pretty tense encounters inside this spooky mansion.
Oh, and if you do get caught, then you can expect a jump scare. But they're quite weak in comparison to those in Five Nights At Freddy's.

At the moment, Goosebumps Night of Scares isn't available everywhere (including the UK). Hopefully it'll roll out to more countries as the movie debuts around the world.

If you are able to see it in the App Store then you can purchase it for £3.99 / $4.99.
