Cult coding hero Jeff Minter has returned to the iOS pasture once again. On this occasion, it's Minter's platforming sequel Goatup 2's turn to graze among the App Store flock.

Fans of the first caprine-centric game will immediately recognise all the hallmarks of a classic Minter experience in Goatup 2: 8-bit visuals, streamlined controls, and a screenful of animals doing strange and impossible things.

This time out, however, our favourite goat whisperer has abandoned the perpetual climbing gameplay of the original Goat Up in favour of a more standard free-roaming platforming format.

Don't worry, though: just because the platforming is more traditional in Goatup 2, it doesn't mean that this follow-up is any less colourful or barmy than its forerunner.

As you explore Goatup 2's fish-, phone-, and fruit-filled levels, you'll have the chance to leap on numerous enemies (or fart on them, if you really must).

You'll also get to munch grass, go swimming, and play around with a neat gravity-reversing mechanic.

What's more, the Llamasoft crew (well, Minter) has handed you the key to his psychedelic tool shed by including a level editor in Goatup 2.

You can buy Goatup 2 from the App Store for £2.49 / $3.99 right now.
