Exclusive: Glu announces Eryn's return to iPhone in Glyder 2

Glu's aerial exploration game Glyder still stands out on the App Store, both for its cool 3D flying gameplay and its non-combative 'play at your own pace' atmosphere.

And now publisher Glu has announced that a sequel to the game will be out before the end of 2009. (Note: screenshot is from the original game.)

"We're very excited to announce that Eryn will be starring in the sequel to Glyder, Glyder 2, which will be available later this year," Glu's studio head Daren Chencinski told Pocket Gamer as part of an extensive 'Making of' feature over on PocketGamer.biz.

"We're looking for Glyder fans to help us with the development process. If you'd like to be involved, please send an email to iheartglyder [at] glu.com," he added.

Talking about the process of making Glyder, Chencinski said one of the features the team wanted to include but didn't have time was a more complex mission system.

"The trips ended up being simple point-to-point goals that were ultimately too simplistic to capture the feel we were looking for," he explained.

"The system we originally designed was intended to include waypoints to make the trips more interesting and challenging. We even wanted to build trips that spanned multiple worlds. We think big fans of the game would have really enjoyed these, particularly with the inclusion of the waypoint system."

Let's hope these, and lots of new features, are present and correct in the sequel.
