A classic of its genre and one of the most popular space shooting games of all time, Galaga 3 (which incidentally is older than this Pocket Gamer writer) can still lay claim to enough pure shooter thrills to be relevant today.

For those that are unfamiliar with the Galaga series, it is basically Space Invaders goes wild, with more weapons, more varied attack patterns and boss fights.

Sounds like fairly standard stuff, but the Galaga series is one of the longest-running in gaming's short history, and the original arcade board fetches a pretty penny among collectors owing to its significance in the industry and the Golden Age it represents.

For the mobile version, fans can enjoy a straight port developed in-house by original creators Namco Bandai. The game claims to maintain all of the arcade machine's features, and is available now.
