Here's a novel way of getting the most out of the different audiences on iPhone and iPad.

Polish developer Bloober Team has been working on its iPad-bound story-driven tactical game Gender Wars for a couple of months.

It didn't think the 'tons of dialogues, cut scenes and character driven quests' would work so well on the smaller screen however, which is why it's releasing a cutdown version called Future Fight for iPhone and iPod touch.

Split objectives

"We decided it will be better to establish new branch of games for fans who prefer gameplay over storyline," explains producer Piotr Babieno.

"Future Fight will focus on battles and will have the exclusive Operations mode in which the player will focus only on tactical management of their armies and fighting battles."

The Operations mode will be spread across five campaigns, and feature a simultaneously-executed turn-based battle system, also supported by a hotseat multiplayer mode.

Submitted to Apple for approval, Future Fight should be released in the next week or so.
