Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots slices its way onto New Zealand App Store, coming to UK and US tonight

Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots on iPhone and iPad is Halfbrick’s sequel to its monstrously successful Fruit Ninja game, and, as expected, it's out now in New Zealand, meaning it'll be available to download worldwide at around midnight.

Based on the character from DreamWorks's Shrek movies, Puss in Boots is a forthcoming film depicting the adventures of the suave kitty swordsman, who is voiced by Latin lothario Antonio Banderas.

Halfbrick's spin-off iOS games see you slicing melons and strawberries in traditional Fruit Ninja fashion, albeit with Puss in Boots's diminutive sabre at your disposal on this occasion.

Desperado

Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots boasts two new game modes to explore: in Bandito mode, you’ll be completing challenges based on your chopping precision and timing.

Desperado mode, meanwhile, is a twist on the standard Fruit Ninja gameplay, with more fruit to slice and Puss’s Magic Beans to mix things up.

Eager fruit choppers will be able to download the game from the App Store later this evening, with the iPhone version [buy] priced at 69p / 99c and the iPad edition [buy] retailing for £1.49 / $1.99.
