Homemade Games's Front Wars is what would have happened if World War II had been fought by cartoonists instead of superpowers.

It's a turn-based strategy title set during some of the biggest battles of the Second World War. In Front Wars, you lead your adorable Allied troops into scraps with the adorable Axis troops.

It's all just adorable. Apart from the slaughter.

There's a hefty campaign here in which you bash your way through front lines, capturing towns to use their resources and firing volleys of tank shells at anything that moves a bit funny.

Homemade Games owes a lot to the maker of Advanced Wars, with the actual Front Wars scraps taking place in bite-sized blasty cutscenes where chunks of your army are mown down in fizzes and pops.

Alongside the campaign, there's a deep multiplayer mode in which you can play with Facebook and Game Center friends. You can also take a friend on in the same room in pass-and-play mode.

Front Wars is out now on the App Store for the special launch price of £1.99 / $2.99. If you like your strategy cute, clever, and a little rough around the edges, it's worth a look.
