Frogger hops onto the iPhone

Konami Digital Entertainment has released an all-new version of Frogger for the iPhone, but only in the US so far.

The game, which went live on the App Store today, has been rejigged with touchscreen and motion-sensing controls, although the core 'why did the frog cross the road?' gameplay remains intact.

Being UK-based, we can't see the game on the App Store yet, so we can't say exactly how those controls will work, or how the game looks. It costs $9.99, though, up there with the more expensive iPhone games.

Still, Konami is pretty chuffed, and VP of Konami Mobile Joe Morris is promising that more retro titles are on the way to Apple's handset.

"We see the iPhone platform as an opportunity to showcase the legendary Konami brands in a truly unique fashion," he says. "We look forward to releasing more of our popular titles for the iPhone soon."

We'll take that as an opportunity to start a good Pro Evolution Soccer for iPhone rumour then.
