Forza Street, Microsoft's casual arcade racer, has drifted its way onto iOS and Android today. It feels like it's been a long time coming, so you'll no doubt be wondering whether Street was worth the wait. And, well, it's complicated.

So far, its racing action feels incredibly basic. It's almost like driving around in GTA's cinematic camera mode with the odd timing challenge thrown in for good measure. That might be good, showy fun for a little while, but I'm a tad concerned that Forza Street's stripped-back approach will hurt its longevity.

Sure, it could still introduce new mechanics to keep things fresh; I'm not super far in at the moment, after all. Forza fans, of which I am most definitely one, will no doubt struggle to remain engaged for long if this doesn't happen, however.

I do enjoy its overall presentation, with the cars I've unlocked so far all looking good and sounding even better. There also appears to be a fairly sizable roster of vehicles to unlock and add to your garage.

On a standard Galaxy S9, it does feel surprisingly jittery. It's nothing I can't learn to live with for now, and I'm sure it'll be ironed out in future patches, but it suggests that lower-spec devices may struggle with Street.

Oh, and FYI: you'll get a little bonus for linking your Xbox Live account, and doing so also allows you to personalise your name, pic, and pick up where you left off on any device. It's a good idea if you want to back-up your purchases or compete in the Rivals mode.

You'll find Forza Street available for download now as a free-to-play title from over on the App Store and Google Play.
