Wales Interactive has released Five Dates, a new dating sim consisting of filmed live-action segments, for iOS devices after a previous run on PC and consoles last year.

Developed by Good Gate Media, Five Dates was created during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown that occurred (several times) in the UK last year. It’s about a single man called Vinny who joins a dating app and goes on virtual video dates with five women.

Each of these potential matches, which includes actors like Doctor Who’s Mandip Gill and Georgia Hirst from Vikings, have their own personalities and desires. It’s down to you to control Vinny’s responses on each date which determines whether they like him and if they want to see him again.

It uses a branching chain of conversation topics to lead to this, determining where the tone of the date can go, ranging from serious topics to awkward moments. Obviously there are multiple endings, and considering there are five people to date who may all end up rejecting Vinny based on your choices, there looks to be at least half a dozen endings to see.

“Five Dates is an exploration of the unpredictable modern dating experience, which follows an average single man as he navigates the world of digital dating. Through his journey, the decisions the viewer makes for him will challenge their own conceptions of attraction and compatibility,” says the official store page for the game.

Five Dates is out now for iOS devices, and you can grab it now from the iOS App Store. It’s a free to play title with in-app purchases. An Android version is also coming soon, so we’ll update you when more information is available.
