Stunning-looking tower defence title Elf Defense lays down the sandbags on iOS

You've got to do something pretty special nowadays to get at least one of the Pocket Gamer crew (that isn't Keith) excited about a new tower defence title.

Having 2D graphics as wondrously beautiful as Elf Defense's definitely doesn't hurt.

Gameplay-wise, Elf Defense contains your typical corridor o' doom setup, with your elves (towers) sitting beside a path, blasting enemies before they reach your walls.

There are over 100 types of these foes to take down - a rather huge number for this particular genre - in Elf Defense, spread out across three fantasy environments.

The big draw, though, is that the artwork looks fantastic (and extremely busy from the screenshots), with brightly coloured characters and crisp effects for your magical weapons.
