Is this the first true mobile sandbox title?

More Driver L.A. Undercover details emerge

With the new PSP edition in the popular Driver releasing today, it is nice to get some fresh details for the next mobile outing of the franchise, Driver L.A. Undercover, which we first heard about back in March.

Arriving courtesy of Gameloft, the game boasts a full-on 3D engine and an apparently involving 30 mission storyline, which takes place on foot as well as in one of the five available hotrods.

The game is set in what we're assured is a gigantic 3D city, consisting of four neighbourhood (industrial zone, port, downtown, and Chinatown) within which you will have complete freedom of movement.

While Rockstar bizarrely keeps Grand Theft Auto from its happy-slapping mobile gaming demographic, let's hope Driver L.A. Undercover can plug the gap. It's certainly shaping up to be one of the most ambitious mobile titles we've heard about; click 'Track It!' to stay on its tail.
