| Dragon City

Remember that strange portal that arrived in the land of Dragon City back in December? Well, if you're over level 27 and still curious, we have a treat for you.

This is the Ancient Portal and unlocks access to the Ancient World, a collection of island Habitats that unlock access to, you guessed it, new dragons!

Over the course of this series of guides, we'll take a look at the new features in this massive update to help you get breeding these new dragons right away.

Elemental islands

The Ancient World is made up of six new islands that are basically enormous Habitats aligned to the new elements that were added to Dragon City.

These include Beauty, Soul, Happy, Chaos, Dream, and Magic.

Each Habitat can be levelled up 12 times and each time you do so will allow one more dragon to live there. That means a level 12 Habitat can house 12 dragons.

Ancient Dragons

Ancient Dragons are a new dragon species that were introduced into Dragon City in the Ancient World update.

Their sole purpose is to produce platinum - a whole new type of currency that's used to purchase and craft items exclusively in the Ancient World.

There are 18 Ancient Dragons right now and the only way to acquire one is to build a Mine and gather Crystals. We'll cover Mines in part two.

Crystals

Crystals are a new type of currency that are used to summon Ancient Dragons.

There are six crystals in total: Diamond, Topaz, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Onyx and they're obtained by building Mines.

Crystals have ten purity levels: Raw, Clean, Pure, Fine, Neat, Bright, Squared, Carved, Oval, and Perfect and can be levelled up through crafting.

It costs five identical Crystals to craft a higher levelled crystal. For example, five Raw Crystals will create one Clean Crystal.
