Unveiled at Apple's WWDC conference, Doom Resurrection - labelled as an "all-new chapter in the Doom saga" but effectively based on the Doom 3 game, is now live on the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch.

The game consists of eight levels, six of which are Martian in theme and two that place you in Hell. Happy eh?

Of course, you don't travel light and have a selection of large weapons - shotgun, chaingun, assault rifle etc - to blow chunks off the various humanoids and demonoids you'll come across.

We're less sure about how the on-rail controls and the quick time 'shake your iPhone now' elements will work. This also extends to a dodge touchscreen button - not something we remember doing much of in Doom 3.

Still, you can find out for yourself now, albeit at the top notch price of $9.99 or £5.99.
