One of the most recognisable and successful games on iPhone, the ever bouncing Doodle Jump is been in development for iPad, seemingly for years.

Certainly, studio Lima Sky had plenty of plans in terms of how it could bring the game to the larger screen and form factor.

At one stage, it was thinking about a landscape version in which you held your iPad longways instead of the classic portrait mode as with the iPhone version.

Back to basics

However, this appears to have been filed under 'failed experiment' as Doodle Jump for iPad offers the experience we all know and love, including the various graphical themes, but on the big screen with higher resolution imagery.

There are also some exclusive features such as a new racetrack theme for the two-way multiplayer mode, and OpenFeint integration for leaderboards and achievements. Game Center, Facebook and Twitter are also integrated.

Doodle Jump for iPad is out now, priced $2.99, €2.39 or £1.99.
