One of the things mobile gaming is lacking is solid online multiplayer experiences.

Don't get me wrong, there are some games that do PvP brilliantly, but they're a little thin on the ground.

Dethroned wants to change that. It's an action focused strategy battler that sees you building bases, capturing nodes, and leading your hero into battle against friends and strangers.

And right now an early access version of the game is available for nothing from the Google Play Store.

It's important to note that the game is in beta right now, and while it's entirely playable, it's still a bit rough around the edges.

The command prompts in the tutorial levels, for example, still talk about left click and right click rather than tap and press.

But the actual experience of sending waves of minions to whomp on your enemy's throne while you send your hero to smash capture points and maul its opposite number is in place and working pretty well.

The game is essentially a light MOBA. You can earn or buy different heroes, and each battle you'll need to sure up your base, collecting gold from your mines, capturing new ground, and upgrading the throne your king sits on.

You score points just by reaching the foot of your foe's throne, and capturing flaming torches on the map chips away at the other side's health too.

Dethroned is definitely worth a look then. There is a weighty mass of tactical options here, presented in a chunky style that's pleasing to the eye.

If any of that sounds appealing then you should wander over to the Google Play Store and grab the game right now.

We'll let you know when it moves out of beta, and whether or not it's heading to any other mobile platforms.
