Darkin is a vampiric match-three puzzler that's all about battling the denizens of the underworld, slurping up as much blood as possible, and biting anything that looks like it might be hostile.

You play as one of 3 different clans and battle your way through 3 different modes, each with its own twist on the stuff-matching genre.

Almost Eternal is about staying alive for as long as you can, Bloody Countdown is about surviving for a hundred turns, and Sunrise Survival is about darting back to your coffin before the sun comes up.

You can connect the puzzle pieces in straight and diagonal lines, and you'll unlock special moves and bonus tiles as you scrap through the various beasts that the game throws in your direction.

Coins you earn can be spent on sharpening your weapons and swelling your health bar, while moons add to your mana and let you unlock special moves.

Darkin's gameplay comes in sharp bursts, and even the smallest creature can take a decent chunk out of your hit points if you can't get it out of the way in time.

Boss monsters have special moves of their own, and some of them only take damage if you whomp them from the right direction.

If you're looking for a surprisingly addictive monster puzzler to sink your fangs into this week then Darkin could well be right up your street.

The game should hit the App Store this Thursday, and when it does it'll set you back £1.99 / $2.99. There are no IAPs, either, if that might sway your buying decision.
